Oregon Bill Would Also Allow Nondoctors to Prescribe Assisted Suicide

Yesterday, I posted about a Vermont bill that would allow nondoctors to prescribe death. I found out today that Oregon has similar legislation pending that would allow “providers” to lethally prescribe. SB 1003 specifies that “provider” can mean a licensed physician, a licensed physician assistant, or a licensed nurse practitioner. I wouldn’t trust a PA or NP to diagnose me with six months to live. Would you? That is not a putdown. These valuable medical professionals’ primary roles are to provide generalized care, monitor and manage chronic conditions, and provide wellness services. But they are not physicians. They receive less education and specialized training as compared with physician-certified specialists like cardiologists, oncologists, nephrologists, or neurologists. I suspect that the reason for expanding categories of eligible lethal Read More ›

At Least 60 People With Eating Disorders Euthanized or Assisted in Suicide Since 2012

A very disturbing — but, alas, unsurprising — report has been published from a review of medical studies that demonstrates that at least 60, but almost surely more, people with eating disorders (EDs) have been euthanized or assisted in suicide between 2012 and 2024. This includes at least three patients from the U.S. Read More ›

I don't smoke, but I am wary of efforts to prevent other people from so doing. Now, blue cities — and soon states, most likely — have hit upon a way to ban smoking known as "Tobacco Free Generation" (TFG). Read More ›

Oregon Bill Forcing Health Insurance to Pay for Gender Transitions Excludes Detransition Care

This is all so corrosive to societal cohesiveness, and goodness knows how it will end. But good on Representative Diehl for bringing greater clarity to this important social controversy. Some gender identifications are seen by progressives as better than others. Read More ›

Oregon Legislation Would Allow Children to Decide About Abortion/Transgenderism Without Parental Consent

Political progressives want to divorce children from their parents regarding crucial issues such as sex, abortion, and transgenderism. Pending legislation from the hard-left state of Oregon would do just that. Read More ›

Suicide Tourism Comes to Oregon

Assisted-suicide activists always promise that strict guidelines will protect against abuse. It’s a big con. The guidelines are not really strict. They rely primarily on self-reporting. And they are meant to be temporary: As soon as political conditions permit, the access to doctor-prescribed death expands. Read More ›
